Call For Art: 702 Main Street
GJ Creates in partnership with Kaart, are seeking multiple artists to complete a series of murals at 702 Main Street. Artists will complete murals on 8 ft x 4 ft panels. Panels will then be installed at 702 Main to create an engaging art walk on a currently undeveloped lot in the heart of Downtown Grand Junction.
- Three artists will be selected. Project award is $650 each

The Meadows is a temporary art and landscaping installation at 702 Main Street. This space will activate an underutilized section of Downtown Grand Junction and complement the new Kaart building at 734 Main, as well as nearby amenities such as the Avalon Theatre.
Artists will complete murals on 8 ft x 4 ft panels. Panels will then be installed at 702 Main to create an engaging art walk. Kaart specializes in GIS mapping so mural concepts should focus on “place.” Creativity is encouraged. Proposals will be evaluated by overall creativity, design, and aesthetic. Project concepts will be approved by the GJ Creates committee and a representative from Kaart. Artists will be selected and notified by August 25.

Complete and submit your application by Wednesday, August 11. Please include a link to a portfolio, and include digital images of your proposed installation. Artists may submit multiple applications.
Applications will be reviewed and selected by the Creative District committee. Selected artists will be notified by August 25, and will work with GJ Creates to schedule installation times. Selected artist awards cover the cost of supplies, paint, and artist commission for the project.
GJ Creates reserves the right to accept, award, or reject project applications. Nothing in this program obligates the Creative District to select specific grant applications or any applications at all.
Applicants and awardees, not the Creative District, shall be solely responsible for determining applicants’ or awardees’ tax status and tax implications of applicants’ receipt of funds as well as any and all required local, state and federal tax reporting and payment.
